Varieties of Relationships

Hello guys! Hope you all are doing great! Today I'm going to discuss another important subtopic of this blog. This one holds its unique importance since this subtopic will make us able to discuss further and deeper into details regarding our main topic - "Relationship Issues".

As you have already seen in post heading, today we will try to categorise and simplify all the relationships out there into few subcategories. You all know that there are so many relationship varieties that we meet in our daily life. Here I’m going to take them as a whole and divide them under few topics, so I can take them one by one in future post and dig in for more details. Here again, I kindly ask you all to forgive me for my mistakes. If you can point out any detail that I've missed, it would be greatly appreciated and I will correct myself according to your ideas.

For now, let's talk about those relationship varieties we often see out there. As I mentioned before, I will only point out main relationship types and will try to give a short explanation for each.

  •  Romantic or Intimate Relationships

I know you all clearly understand what this means.  Romantic relationships play a huge role in the everyday human experience. This is a relationship that involves physical or emotional intimacy. A romantic relationship involves physical and sexual attraction between people, liking and loving each other, romantic feelings, and fulfilling each person’s sexual needs. Romantic relationships provide a social network for people that provide strong emotional attachments, and fulfill our universal need of belonging and the need to be cared for. More than 99% of the total adult population do experience this relationship and I'm pretty sure that the same percentage would have gone through at least one issue during the time they were involved in the relationship.

  •  Parent - Child Relationships

Of the many different relationships people form over their life span, the relationship between parent and child is among the most important. The parent-child relationship is made up of a combination of behaviours, feelings, and expectations that are unique to a particular parent and a particular child. This relationship also involves the full extent of a child's development. In its most restricted use, the term parent refers only to a mother or father who is related to the child by blood. This definition holds whether the child is legitimate (the natural parents are married to each other) or illegitimate (the parents are not married to each other). But in 2003, as a result of statutes, adoptive parents have the same rights and responsibilities as natural parents in the modern world. This is one of the greatest and most important relationships that every living being experiences in their life. Because of the same reason, the number of problems that occurs regarding this category holds a high value too.

  •  Family Relationships

This is another variety of relationships that concerns us a lot. These relationships are made between individuals through a connection by blood, marriage or adoption. Uncle - Family, Brother - Sister, Grand Parents - Children, In-laws - family and  all other relationships that we can recognise within a family fall under this topic. In other words, the bond between all the relations of a family can be discussed under this topic. Here, by the definition of family relationships, we see that ‘Parent-Child relationship' should also be categorised under this topic. But since it holds a greater priority between all the varieties of relationships, and since there are lot of issues related to it specifically, I thought it might be better to be discussed separately.

  •  Friendships

This is one of the most widely seen relationship types that we form in our daily lives. In the simplest words, the relationship between friends is called as ‘friendship’. Since friendship is formed with various types of people who are completely different to each, it’s a relationship that should be handled with great care and patience. This is one of those relationships which are hard to form and harder to survive. But if you succeed, these relationships would even last as long as you live! I doubt that there is even a single person out there who hasn’t been involved in a friendship during his or her life. So that means, there is a good chance that you all have felt the bad side of it too, which are the troubles and problems that arise when trying to survive a friendship and keep it healthy!

  •  Professional Relationships

This is another relationship type that is commonly seen in modern society. A professional relationship can be formed with a colleague for business reasons or with a client or vendor etc. This is the relationship that builds up when one person requests for professional help and is granted from a qualified person or a source. If any business work related contact extends for a considerable amount of time, then it results in a professional relationship. In a professional relationship, there is this 'must have rule’ which makes it stand out from other varieties. And that is, a professional relationship is strictly to be kept Professional and must not develop any personal relationship when it progresses. This is where most of you go wrong and end up with troubles. People always mix up their professional and personal lives and get stuck with unnecessary issues, which often results in their downfall. Furthermore, relationships that form between co-workers of an institution or organization can also be categorised under this topic.

  • Other Relationships

Above, I have tried to describe the most common and widely spread relationship varieties which are present around us. But we all know that, except for the above mentioned, still there are many other relationships formed between various individuals and groups which can be observed in our day to day life. Some of them are;
  • Teacher – Student relationships
  • Relationships with neighbours
  • Relationships between members of a group (social or professional)
  • International relationships, etc.

In my future posts, I’m going to discuss about the above types of relationships under the subtopic - ‘Other Relationships’. I’m not saying that these types of relationships don’t hold an importance, but when we consider about the issues that people face coz of relationships, the above mentioned are less spoken in our general lives. That means, I won’t need to put much concern on these varieties comparing to the relationships I have mentioned earlier using distinct topics. But I believe that, out there, every one of you will face at least one issue which concern all of the above relationships varieties to some extent. So I will make sure to give priority to them all accordingly and as much as I can, in order to help you survive through any kind of a relationship issue…

So that’s it! Now on, day by day, we will start to enter to the more detailed serious stuff. That is, from tomorrow, I’m going to start to concentrate on the ‘relationship issue’ part of this blog. And when doing that, I will take the above topics one by one and discuss further and deeper into details and let you understand the reality and truth about whatever the relationship issue that you are a victim of. The solution? Of course! I promise you to show your path towards the solution and bring everything back to normal!!!
